|Description:||Performs professional and technical work designing, developing, implementing, and supporting the Airport Authority’s Information Systems active and passive network infrastructure and networking equipment. Leads in day-to-day operations of the network, including all Cisco and other networking devices, as well as the Authority’s telephony (VoIP) and 802.11 wireless initiatives. Serves as the lead technical person for all Authority networking proposals and projects.|
This individual performs work in design, development, administration, and maintenance of the Airport Authority’s network systems. Work includes operation and maintenance of all Cisco-based network devices; design, analysis and installation of a variety of other networking hardware and software; troubleshooting and resolving operational problems; and maintaining operation of all network systems. Design and support of other networking projects including wireless, data center connectivity and standards for communication room and cabling are part of the work effort. Work requires understanding of networking principals, procedures, and I.S. best practices. Establishing and supporting teamwork, peer support, and exemplary customer service is a must for satisfactory performance. Providing technical leadership and mentoring of other team members is necessary for success. Work is performed under the general supervision of the I.S. Manager – Network and Telecommunications and is evaluated through the effectiveness of the team in accomplishing stated goals and directives.
|Duties:||•Leads in the administration of the communications network within the organization.|
•Provides network support to other sections within I.S to help them accomplish their mission.
•Responsible for implementing and monitoring all security and policies via firewall administration.
•Assist in the active integration of network security protocols and policies with Network Security specialist.
•Installs and supports campus wide Wireless Infrastructure, to include wireless site and coverage surveys and Cisco WAP and controller management.
•Provides input into disaster recovery planning and testing related to networking components.
•Approves change control request proposal submittals from subordinate team members.
•Monitors the campus network for issues and outages and adds devices to monitoring software as needed. Supervises in troubleshooting efforts and resolves network problems, including all Layer (access, distribution, and core level) 1, 2, & 3 issues.
•Leads the deployment of the Authority’s Network Management / Monitoring system.
•Leads in research, testing, evaluation, and integration of new networking technologies and services.
•Designs and supports all network related projects including capital project initiatives.
•Responsible for all technical aspects of the organization’s VoIP systems to include phone moves/add/change, RDU extension mobility, analog service, voicemail, call trees, dial peers, MOH, hunt groups, and attendant console.
•Manages the QOS requirements in conjunction with the IS Systems team’s initiatives.
•Lead for SmartNet, TAC, and any other network support maintenance programs.
•Develops and designs the network / VoIP/802.11 portions of enhanced tenant service offerings.
•Writes and implements procedures for network change control and produces reports.
•Evaluates and performs capacity planning functions related to the telecommunication network infrastructure.
•Communicates with internal and external consumers including middle and upper management, as appropriate, in order to ensure the delivery of high-quality service and technical network support.
•Monitors organizational development projects to ensure consistency and satisfaction of technical interface requirements for existing network infrastructure.
•Demonstrates broad technical knowledge, and is able to advise as well as help define strategic direction for the company.
•Professionally represents the company from a technical perspective at peer reviews, conferences, and industry related meetings.
•Translates business/functional system requirements into clear and concise instructions for self and other staff.
|Qualifications:||Ability to provide high quality customer service and support.|
Significant knowledge of Cisco switching and routing protocols and Cisco IOS configurations.
Considerable knowledge of Cisco Wireless Controller and Access Point configuration and sustainment.
Considerable knowledge of Cisco ASA 5500 and ASDM software.
Considerable knowledge of network security standards and implementation.
Extensive knowledge of other Cisco applications including VoIP Call Manager, Unity, and TACACS.
Substantial knowledge of SolarWinds network monitoring software and monitored device configuration.
Significant knowledge of change request procedures and testing.
Ability to analyze, diagnose, and solve network hardware and application problems.
Knowledge of how computer technology can be integrated into the airport environment for a variety of applications and purposes.
Ability to architect and design most aspects of a multi-VLAN, route and switch Cisco network.
Knowledge of IP addressing, subnetting, VLAN functionality, routing protocols and SNMP.
Proficiency in working with Telco vendors to achieve desired results.
Ability to plan and coordinate a variety of special computer projects.
Capable of integrating into a team environment.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Authority officials, and vendors.
Desirable Education and Experience
BS/BA in computer science or related field. Minimum five years experience working in and supervising management of Cisco and other vendor networking technology in an enterprise networked environment. Current CCNA is required. CCNP or the ability to obtain is desirable.
